1. In a large saucepan add 750ml red wine, 2 cups water, ½ cup brown sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, the juice of 1/2 a ruby red grapefruit (slice the other half to put in too), ½ tsp ground nutmeg.
2. Simmer for ½ hour, add ½ cup cointreau and gently reheat.
3. Strain and serve warm.
